Are Your Goals Truly Soul-Aligned?
Ask yourself:
Are my goals driven by soul and purpose… or by pressure absorbed from others?
Am I chasing identities or expectations I picked up as a child?
Am I grinding in ways that aren’t actually correct for my energy?
Your Human Design bodygraph shows which of your centers are defined (colored in) and undefined (white). Undefined centers are where you absorb others’ energy, and often where subtle (or not-so-subtle) pressure sneaks in.
For example, my Head, G, Sacral, and Root centers are undefined, which means every day I’m taking in energy from those around me. Once I started noticing it, everything shifted.
How Undefined Centers Create Pressure
Here’s how pressure from undefined centers used to show up for me:
Feeling like I had to act on every idea → scattered, unfocused.
Forcing myself to have a consistent “brand identity” → analysis paralysis.
Running on caffeine and overwork → ignoring my body’s signals to rest.
Perfecting everything before I could share → stuck in creation mode, afraid to launch.
Sound familiar? That’s the not-self at work.
The Shadows of the Undefined Centers
Your undefined centers are where you’re most likely to feel pressure. When you’re not aware of it, these show up as shadows: patterns that drive you into goals, behaviors, or commitments that aren’t really yours.
The Pressure Voices of the Undefined Centers
Each center has its own “voice of pressure”: the not-self script that pulls you off track.
Examples:
Undefined Head → “I have to figure this out!”
Undefined Root → “I must finish everything right now.”
Undefined Sacral → “I should keep working even though I’m tired.”
Undefined G → “I need to find my purpose and stick to it.”
The Gifts Hidden in Undefined Centers
When you bring awareness and learn to release the pressure, your undefined centers become your deepest sources of wisdom and magnetism.
Examples:
Undefined Head → wise about inspiration and what’s worth pursuing.
Undefined Root → wise about pacing and urgency.
Undefined Sacral → wise about energy sustainability.
Undefined G → wise about identity fluidity and direction.
Practices to Release the Pressure
I use embodiment practices to shift out of pressure and back into alignment:
EFT tapping
Meditation + visualization
Freeform dance or movement
Breathwork
Journaling with awareness of not-self voices
From Pressure → Alignment
When I started working with my undefined centers instead of against them, everything changed:
I notice pressure but don’t confuse it with purpose.
I choose goals that sustain me, my family, and my clients.
I’ve built a business that feels nourishing instead of draining.
Do I still feel pressure? Of course. But now I can tell the difference between goals born from external noise and goals aligned with my soul truth.
Reflection Prompt
Sit with each goal or commitment in your business and ask:
Does my body feel tight, rushed, or “should-y”?
Or does it feel light, exciting, and nourishing?
That’s the difference between pressure-driven goals and soul-aligned goals.
